Instructional Documentation

Thanks to our chairperson, our Road Rally Manual is now available! This is the initial revision of our manual, and the cover page will display the revision number and effective date. We hope this manual will provide timely and valuable information for those of you wanting to get more involved with organizing and competing in road rally.

He’s also generated a complete set of speed tables from 10 – 110 kmh (or mph) which appear a bit further down the page.

Practice Rally – *New*

Jim has produced a short (17.5 km) practice rally for those of you who feel a need for a bit more familiarity with road rally concepts and route instructions. This practice rally is in the Tantallon, NS area and so is readily accessible to everyone in HRM and environs.

Take an hour out of your busy schedules and give the Stillwater Practice Rally a try! Send us your feedback and let us know what else you would like to see incorporated into a practice rally.

The Richta Rally System

We will be using the Richta Rally System on select rallies throughout the season. This free smartphone app-based timing and scoring system allows us to run rallies with a greatly reduced human resource requirement!

The Richta Rally website has a wealth of information which is too comprehensive to be listed here.

The Bluenose Autosport Club (BAC) website has a very good introduction to the Richta Rally system, complete with screenshots.

The Detroit Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has an excellent Richta tutorial as well.

Speed Tables

Do you need to know how long it takes you to drive 5.3 km at 47 kph? Or 400 metres at 15 kph? We can help with these speed tables generated by our chairperson. Have a look at the cover page and instructions first, merge the documents if required, and enjoy the challenge of road rally!

For Organizers/Rallymasters

Thinking about organizing your first road rally? That’s excellent news, and we can help! As a first step, read our updated organizer’s guide . Reach out to any of us at an event, or contact your local club for contact information.

Leg Time Calculator. Math is hard (well, at least for our webmaster). Enter leg distances and average speeds and let this Excel file do the work for you. Use one sheet for each section (copy and paste for more sheets)!

Time Card Template. If you’re putting together a traditional rally, you’ll need timecards for each rally crew.
