Picture-Perfect

At the risk of getting ahead of ourselves, I need to let you know about the start village for the Lost in Lunenburg Rally on October 18. It could go down as the most picturesque start point of any road rally in recent memory.

In my opinion, Indian Point (just a few kms around the coast from Mahone Bay) is one of the crown jewels on Nova Scotia’s stunning South Shore. It’s small, quiet, quaint, and there’s a postcard-quality photo wherever you look. The sheltered passage is home to fishing and pleasure boats, magnificent restored houses and fish shacks line the shore, and a winding no-exit road connects it all. We make it a point to detour out there each time we’re through the area, and we never tire of it.

So I was very excited when Chris announced the start control of the Lost in Lunenburg rally as the fire department hall in Indian Point! That excitement was followed immediately by deep disappointment with the knowledge I won’t be here for the LiL rally. Any excuse to spend time in Indian Point is welcome but unfortunately we’ll be an ocean away.

But that doesn’t mean everyone else can’t enjoy it. It promises to be a great rally and a superb start control location bodes well for the rest of the event. It’s also the final event of the 2025 road rally season and championships could be decided here. And as much as possible and time difference notwithstanding, I’ll be following along online through the magic of the Richta Scoreboard app.
