If you’ve been paying attention to our Calendar page and Facebook posts, you’ll know there are two road rallies coming up in May. The ASCC New Scotland Road Rally (NSRR) on May 3 will visit central Nova Scotia and the Northumberland Strait coastal area, while the BAC Bluenose Rally will start in Windsor and take crews through the Annapolis Valley with perhaps a brief foray to the Bay of Fundy.
Because Supplementary Regulations (SRs) have to be published well in advance of the event date, we find ourselves with two sets of SRs to make available to you. You can find the NSRR SRs here, while the Bluenose Rally document appears here.
We can’t stress enough the importance of a complete understanding of a specific event’s SRs. While some are straightforward and provide start, finish, entry fee, registration and other administrative information, some will provide instructions for out-of-bounds areas or types of roads which “do not exist,” which may be important for route finding when those supplementary rules are applied to the route instructions. They could also contain timing or route “twists” which could catch out unaware crews. Smart crews will have a printed copy with them in the car for reference if needed!
We hope to see you in Truro and Windsor for both of these May rallies, and don’t forget to bring a copy of the SRs for each event!
