Le Grosse Ride 2025/Two Weeks to Midwinter Moon

Clarence Westberg of the Twin Cities Rally Club in Minnesota brought this rally to my attention. It’s a 350 km winter rally through the wilds of the Outaouais district of Quebec (think of the area north of the Ottawa River west to roughly Fort Coulonge and north to La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve and including Gatineau and Maniwaki), organized by none other than Canadian rally champion Jean-Sebastien Besner.

This year’s date of Le Grosse Ride is February 15. One of our RRDG members says its arguably the best TSD rally in the country and large entry lists would confirm that.

Their Facebook page (including the entry form) can be found here and you can email legrosseride@gmail.com for further info.

Also, today begins the two-week countdown to the Atlantic Sports Car Club’s Rally of the Midwinter Moon on Jan 25! For those entrants new to the sport, have a look at our Resources page for the Supplementary Regulations, road rally manuals, regulations, speed tables and Richta information. While this is a traditional Time-Speed-Distance rally using staffed CPs, we’re using it as an extended test of the Richta Rally system. If you’re entering, you can help us out by using the Richta system as a test of this GPS based scoring system. Let us know and we’ll set you up!

I hope to see you in Shubenacadie on Jan. 25!
